{"id":1553,"date":"2015-04-14T12:02:57","date_gmt":"2015-04-14T16:02:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ololeaston.org\/?page_id=1553"},"modified":"2016-02-12T15:14:11","modified_gmt":"2016-02-12T20:14:11","slug":"eucharist","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ololeaston.org\/?page_id=1553","title":{"rendered":"Eucharist"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">EUCHARIST<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QcB7Uem00n4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">For Catholics of All Rites<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion.\u00a0 We are to receive Holy Communion reverently and frequently.\u00a0 In order to be properly disposed to receive Communion, one should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour prior to receiving.\u00a0 A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to receive the Body and Blood of Christ without having received sacramental absolution in Confession, except for a serious reason when there is really no opportunity for going to Confession.\u00a0 In such a case, the person has the obligation to make an Act of Perfect Contrition and intend to go to sacramental Confession as soon as possible (<em>CCEO<\/em>\u00a0Canon 711,\u00a0<em>CIC<\/em>\u00a0Canon 916).\u00a0 Frequent reception of the Sacrament of Penance (Confession) is encouraged for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Communion in the Eastern Maronite Catholic Church is received in the mouth directly from the priest\u2019s hand. The reason is that the host is dipped into the consecrated wine before given. For reasonable reasons, other arrangements can be approved by talking to the priest ahead of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">For Other Christians<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">We welcome our fellow Christians to the celebration of the Divine Eucharist as our brothers and sisters.\u00a0 We pray that our common Baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer together and begin to dispel the sad divisions which separate us.\u00a0 We pray that these will finally disappear, in keeping with Christ\u2019s prayer for us \u201cthat they may all be one\u201d (John 17:21).
